Job summary

University of South Carolina seeks an Instructional Technology Specialist to support educational technology within Blackboard and ensure digital content meets accessibility standards. The role emphasizes building accessible course materials and collaborating with the Instructional Design and Technology Team.

The ideal candidate will manage multiple projects, stay current with WCAG/ADA guidelines, and leverage AI tools to develop learning assets for inclusive education across the university.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, information technology, communications, education, or related field.
• Experience with digital accessibility remediation and accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508, ADA).
• Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard).
• Ability to audit and remediates digital course assets and ensure accessibility and copyright compliance.
• Strong communication skills, and ability to work with faculty and teams.

Responsibilities

• Remediate course content to ensure accessibility and compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508 and ADA.
• Audit digital assets (PDFs, slides, images, videos, web content) for accessibility and copyright.
• Assist faculty in creating accessible documents and multimedia content.
• Collaborate on educational technology projects and course quality initiatives.
• Apply Generative AI tools to prototype and develop learning assets.
• Stay current with accessibility standards and best practices in higher education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
