Job summary

TrellisWare Technologies is seeking a Digital Hardware Engineer in San Diego, California. As a key member of our Hardware Platforms and Accessories Team, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining innovative hardware for tactical radios. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 5-7 years of design experience. With your strong communication skills and proactive work ethic, you will contribute to our mission of pushing technological boundaries.

Our Hardware Platforms and Accessories Team is seeking a Digital Hardware Engineer. You would be responsible for creating, testing, integrating and maintaining hardware designs for tactical radios. Responsibilities
  • Develop system and module level requirements and specifications.
  • Design and simulate digital circuits and systems, including associated analog and power circuits.
  • Verify and validate product performance through debug, test and analysis at the component, module and system levels.
  • Lead small project teams, mentor junior engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Develop relationships with team members built on trust and respect.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field of study required.
  • At least 5‑7 years overall experience in designing products with significant digital hardware content.
Qualifications
  • Good understanding of microprocessors, microcontrollers, SOCs, programmable logic and memory.
  • Working knowledge of associated analog and power hardware such as audio/video and SMPS circuits.
  • Knowledge of high‑speed buses such as LPDDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet.
  • Knowledge of low‑speed peripheral buses such as SPI, I2C, SMBus.
  • Proficiency in software tools of the trade: schematic capture, PCB layout, digital timing simulators, signal integrity simulators.
  • Experience designing for manufacturability and test.
  • Demonstrates documentation skills and proficiency with PC office applications.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaborative drive and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong initiative, proactive work ethic and prioritization skills.
  • Trustable judgment and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective execution and decision making.
  • Champion of change and promotes innovation.
Physical Demands
  • Able to frequently sit, stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach within hand’s and arm’s length, stoop, kneel, and crouch, talk and hear.
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; frequently required to use office equipment such as PC, printer, telephone, etc.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Additional Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
