Job summary

Attorney General & Dept of Law is seeking a Computer Forensic Examiner to conduct examinations and investigations under Virginia’s Computer Crimes Act. The role involves coordinating with federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as service providers, and presenting information to public groups and professionals in the field.

Ideal candidates will have strong verbal and written communication, solid computer proficiency, and a background in digital forensics coursework.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficiency.
• One year law enforcement experience conducting computer forensics and criminal investigations (preferred).
• Major course work in digital forensics will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct computer forensic examinations and investigations of child exploitation, computer fraud, computer trespass, identity theft and other crimes within Virginia’s Computer Crimes Act.
• Work with federal, state and local law enforcement, and with service providers.
• Speak to public groups and interact with law enforcement, prosecutors and technology professionals on Internet crimes.
• Investigations are statewide and may cross state borders; some overnight travel may be required.
