Job summary

Dakota County Sheriff's Office in Hastings seeks a highly skilled computer forensics investigator to join the Electronic Crimes Task Force. Analyze digital evidence, examine hard drives, cell phones, and media, and provide investigative and technical guidance.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years in forensic technology (or 6 years equivalent). Preference given to those with Cellebrite/Magnet/X-Ways Forensics credentials. Safety Sensitive position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 2 years of experience working in forensic technology involving computer forensics, electronic discovery and technical investigations.
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience to equal 6 years.
• Preferred certifications in Forensic Computer Examiner.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized computer forensics and electronic discovery on digital media and evidence.
• Maintain chain of custody and ensure integrity of evidence.
• Determine methods to protect original evidence and recover deleted data.
• Evaluate analysis results for forensic significance.
• Provide technical guidance in investigations involving computer media.
• Prepare detailed written and verbal findings of investigations.
