Job summary

City of Starbase seeks a Municipal Court Prosecutor to represent the State in the City’s Municipal Court, handling prosecutions of ordinance violations and state offenses with a focus on due process and digital-first workflows.

The role is part-time/as-needed, with an expectation of at least one court session per month, plus time for preparation and coordination with city staff and law enforcement.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing.
• Knowledge of Texas municipal court procedures and Class C misdemeanors.
• Experience with digital court workflows and electronic case management.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute in Municipal Court of fine-only Class C misdemeanor cases and City ordinance violations.
• See that justice is done in accordance with law.
• Review citations and charging instruments for legal sufficiency; file amendments as needed.
• Appear for bench and jury trials, and other court settings as directed.
• Coordinate with Court Clerk, Judge, police, and defense counsel while maintaining independent judgment.
• Utilize and contribute to digital court workflows and case management platforms.
• Ensure prosecutions comply with U.S. and Texas constitutions and applicable laws.
• Pursue continuing legal education and prosecutor-specific training.
