Job summary

Brook + Whittle in New Albany, IN is seeking a Digital Finisher Operator to print label orders with high quality and minimal waste. You will set up the press, install paper, cylinders, inks, and perform adjustments to speed, tension and viscosities to meet specifications.

Digital Finisher Operator

Shift: Friday‑Sunday (6a‑6p) or Friday‑Sunday (6p‑6a)

The Digital Finisher Operator is responsible for producing printed orders efficiently, maximizing time while minimizing waste. The operator sets up the press, including the installation of paper, cylinders, perf wheels/blades, and ink to print quality product that meets production and customer specifications. The operator makes adjustments to speed, tension, ink, viscosities, etc. as needed to achieve high standards of quality printed product.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Sets up and prints label jobs on printing press with minimal waste in a specific priority order determined by the Press Supervisor.
  • Completes daily score sheets by recording the amount and type of work performed.
  • Cleans printing press at the end of each shift.
  • Maintains press and other equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, may include specialized classes beyond high school.
  • Proficient understanding of principles in one or more functions; typically possesses 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions; ability to read, interpret and create simple correspondence and memos.
  • Knowledge of mechanics and hazard communication standards and material safety data sheets.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Properly uses safety gear, including ear protection, glasses, back‑support belt and safety shoes as required or recommended.
  • Performs single function tasks that tend to be of moderate size and scope.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing environment with unpleasant or hazardous conditions including dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc. (21% to 50% of work time).
  • Requires constant walking, standing, grasping, reaching, pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, twisting and manual dexterity for prolonged periods.
  • Requires hearing, speaking, and color vision.
  • Requires carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work with rotating equipment, hazardous equipment, and safety sensitive equipment.
