We are seeking a highly motivated Digital Engineering SME passionate about applying Digital Engineering to solve challenging problems. The successful candidate will lead systems engineering efforts to design, develop, and implement a digital thread/digital twin framework for additive manufacturing within the Department of the Air Force (DAF). This innovative framework will be utilized across the DAF. The SME will coordinate with DAF entities (such as SAF/AQ, AFRL, AFLCMC, RSO, Warner Robbins AFB, and the Digital Transformation Office), industry, and academia to develop training, policies, and guidance to advance the practice.

Digital Engineering Responsibilities

1. Lead Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) activities to define requirements, architecture, and testing for the Digital Twin/Digital Thread framework for additive manufacturing.
2. Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities.
3. Apply business process improvement practices to re-engineer methodologies and principles.
4. Build a community of practice across the Air Force, industry, and academia, collaborating with stakeholders to advance the state of the art.
5. Develop policy, guidance, and training materials related to Digital Engineering, including Digital Thread and Digital Twins.
6. Create briefings and assessments for diverse audiences such as government sponsors, prime contractors, professional societies, and academic institutions.

Qualifications

• B.S. in an engineering discipline or related field (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred).
• 2+ to 10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering (SE) and MBSE.
• Strong understanding of how system requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation are enabled by MBSE throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• A self-starter with a passion for Digital Engineering, continuous learning, and improvement, with demonstrated experience in Digital Engineering.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for large-scale projects.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, or R for quantitative analysis.
• Proficiency in SysML and Cameo.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Eligibility for a Department of Defense security clearance.
