Job summary

CBRE seeks a Director of Digital Engineering to lead digital engineering services for Global Workplace Services, shaping strategy, governance, and platforms across smart buildings and analytics. You will drive performance, risk management, and client success while coordinating with stakeholders and leadership to deliver value-driven outcomes.

You will oversee budgets, talent development, and modernization initiatives, ensuring cyber, privacy, and safety compliance across programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related discipline required.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience in engineering, facilities technology, digital transformation, smart buildings, operational technology, workplace technology, or a related technical environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing managers, engineers, technical professionals, and cross-functional teams in a complex service-delivery environment.
  • Experience leading large-scale technology or operational programs, strategic roadmaps, organizational transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, contracts, statements of work, procurement activities, and vendor relationships.
  • Experience communicating complex, sensitive, or difficult information and presenting recommendations, risks, performance results, and business cases to executive stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems, smart building technologies, IoT, operational technology, digital infrastructure, analytics, automation, and service management practices.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Expert organizational, analytical, financial, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to set and achieve targets that have a direct impact across multiple departments and functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Digital Engineering strategy, annual priorities, operational roadmap, and performance objectives in alignment with CBRE and client business goals.
  • Lead the delivery and lifecycle management of digital engineering services, platforms, systems, and programs supporting facilities and workplace operations.
  • Provide executive oversight for building automation and controls, smart building integration, Building Orchestrator initiatives, sensors and IoT, operational technology networks, engineering data and analytics, workplace technology, remote operations, and related governance programs.
  • Establish service standards, operating rhythms, performance measures, controls, and continuous improvement practices that improve reliability, scalability, customer value, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for Digital Engineering service risks, critical incidents, operational disruptions, cybersecurity concerns, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, CBRE leaders, operations teams, technology partners, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Prepare and present business reviews, performance reports, strategic recommendations, investment proposals, risk assessments, and program updates for senior leadership.
  • Lead resource planning, organizational design, recruitment, onboarding, coaching, succession planning, and professional development for managers and technical professionals.
  • Oversee budgets, forecasts, contracts, statements of work, procurement activities, vendor performance, capital planning, and operating expense management for Digital Engineering services.
  • Sponsor innovation and digital transformation initiatives involving automation, artificial intelligence, analytics, intelligent operations, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable CBRE and client requirements for cybersecurity, privacy, safety, service management, documentation, change control, and business continuity.

About The Role

  • People and Organizational Leadership: Workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, development, succession planning, engagement, and leadership capability.

What You'll Need

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Technology Management, Business Administration, Data Science, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, IT Service Management, Change Management, Cybersecurity, Smart Buildings, Building Automation, Data Analytics, or Cloud Technologies.
  • Experience supporting a large corporate real estate, facilities management, global workplace, or integrated facilities management portfolio.
  • Experience within technology ecosystem and with enterprise-scale digital engineering or intelligent building programs.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the position is $175,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $195,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
