Qualifications

• Experience managing social media for advocacy, campaigns, or issue-based organizations preferred.
• Experience in communications on political campaigns or Capitol Hill is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Grow and strengthen With Honor’s presence across priority social platforms including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube.
• Execute a comprehensive content strategy and monthly editorial calendar aligned with campaigns.
• Create original multimedia content reflecting the brand voice and mission.
• Collaborate with communications and policy teams to highlight bipartisan achievements.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics to drive growth.
• Maintain brand integrity across digital platforms; ensure consistent visual identity and tone.
• Manage photo, video, and design assets; coordinate with external vendors as needed.
• Respond to audience engagement in real time and foster a respectful community.
• Support website and newsletter content updates with communications staff.
• Support digital promotion and real-time social coverage of events.

With Honor Action is seeking a creative, digitally savvy Digital Engagement Specialist to join its communications and digital team as an independent contractor. With Honor Action is a cross-partisan non-profit whose mission is to strengthen democracy by fighting polarization in the U.S. Congress with principled veteran leadership. With Honor Action works alongside the bipartisan For Country Caucus in the U.S. House and with a group of bipartisan veteran Senators who are committed to the With Honor pledge. The organization has helped pass more than 200+ bipartisan laws since inception, with a concentration in national security, national service, and mental health. Learn more at www.withhonor.org.

Role Objectives

This hands-on role will help shape and execute With Honor’s social media presence, develop compelling digital content, grow and engage audiences across platforms, and use performance insights to continuously strengthen our digital strategy. Working collaboratively across the communications, digital, and policy teams, the Specialist will help translate With Honor’s mission, legislative impact, veteran leadership, events, and other organizational priorities into timely, accessible, and engaging digital storytelling. The Specialist will play a central role in shaping how audiences engage with With Honor Action by driving:

• Increased brand awareness and recognition of With Honor’s mission
• Growth of social media audiences across priority platforms
• Stronger, more accessible storytelling around veteran leadership and bipartisan impact
• Higher engagement with content highlighting legislative wins, policy priorities, and national service efforts
• Greater website traffic and supporter actions driven through social media and digital content
• Improved digital performance through analytics, experimentation, and optimization
• Strong community engagement aligned with With Honor’s cross-partisan values

Responsibilities

• Help grow and strengthen With Honor’s presence across priority social media platforms, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging channels
• Execute a comprehensive content strategy and monthly editorial calendar aligned with organizational priorities and campaigns
• Create original, high-quality multimedia content—including videos, and copy—that reflects With Honor’s brand voice, values, and mission
• Collaborate with the communications and policy teams to highlight legislative wins, veteran stories, events, and bipartisan achievements
• Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics to inform strategy and drive audience growth and engagement
• Maintain brand integrity across all digital platforms; ensure consistency in visual identity and tone
• Manage photo, video, and design assets, coordinating with external vendors or creative partners as needed
• Respond to audience engagement in real time, fostering a positive, respectful community aligned with With Honor’s cross-partisan mission
• Support updates to website and newsletter content in coordination with communications staff
• Support digital promotion and real-time social coverage of key organizational, media, and congressional events.

Experience and Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in social media management, content creation, or digital communications ideally in a nonprofit, political, public affairs, or advocacy context
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful social media and content strategies
• Proficiency with content creation tools, digital marketing platforms, and analytics dashboards
• Experience managing social media for advocacy, campaigns, public policy, or issue-based organizations preferred
• Experience in communications on a political campaign or on Capitol Hill is preferred
• Background in journalism, editorial work, or newsroom-style content production is a strong plus, especially experience translating complex policy issues into accessible storytelling

Terms

• 3 month starting agreement with opportunity to renew
• 40 hours per week, in-office - Washington, D.C.
