Pole/Zero LLC in West Chester, OH is seeking an experienced Digital Design Engineer to lead a team responsible for developing and supporting control systems for RF interference mitigation products.

You will guide firmware and hardware development, perform design reviews, and mentor engineers while collaborating with stakeholders to optimize performance and ensure compliance with internal and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Lead a team of Digital Design Engineers and be responsible for developing and supporting control systems for RF interference mitigation products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for leading the design and development of Digital Engineering team for internal R&D and manufacturing test of RF products.
• Provide technical leadership through coaching and mentoring.
• Lead code inspections, design reviews, design sessions Identify opportunities for firmware reuse, improvement, simplification and retirement.
• Work with stakeholders to make a business case for these opportunities.
• Apply principles of continuous improvement to firmware development process.
• Assist with firmware compliance to applicable standards (internal, industry-driven and customer-driven).
• Assist with the allocation of development staff.
• Serve as point of contact for new effort requirement analysis and estimation.
• Assist with day to day technical challenges and communicate risk as required.
• Responsible for performing work in all phases of the firmware development lifecycle.
• Design schematics containing components such as programmable logic, analog, digital I/O, interfaces (e.g. LVDS, USB, Ethernet, RS-485), and DC/DC converters.
• Develop embedded control algorithms, architecture, and code.
• FPGA/CPLD design and VHDL coding for embedded applications.
• Integral involvement in all phases of hardware and firmware development, including digital control module design, architecture, coding, simulation, module testing, system testing, and production support.
• Test firmware for compliance to requirements, verification of functionality and performance using Pole/Zero hardware and commercial equipment such as in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers, mixed-signal oscilloscopes, network and spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.

• Experience developing employees who are in technical roles.
• Experience with agile and lean product development techniques.
• Experience developing analog and digital electronic systems.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of disciplines in a dynamic environment.
• Experience in FPGA/CPLD design and VHDL/Verilog coding for embedded applications.
• Experience in embedded firmware development using C/C++ & Assembly language for microcontrollers.
• Experience using FPGA development tools.
• Experience using MATLAB for state machine development and code generation.
• Proficiency at solving problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to appropriately apply engineering principles and concepts to the area of embedded control.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware control issues.
• Ability to define critical project criteria to ensure timely completion.
• Ability to draw solutions from both formal training and experience.
• Ability to work independently and within a tight-knit team environment.
• Ability to follow company procedures and work instructions.
• Experience in an RF/analog hardware environment is highly desirable.
• Experience with embedded control design and coding for the defense industry is highly desirable.
• Experience with Agile Firmware development and Git is desirable.
• Experience with signal processing is a plus.
