The Digital Content Specialist (DCS) will work with the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) Public Affairs Division to develop content for multiple digital media channels and provide input on strategies to increase the agency’s effectiveness in reaching stakeholders, including the general public, officials, media, industry organizations, and other state agencies.The DCS will oversee a robust social media program, including platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Nextdoor, and others. The DCS will play a key role in disseminating information during emergencies such as hurricanes, ice storms, and other high-impact events.The DCS will work with MDOT’s Information Systems Division to maintain content on the main agency website (GoMDOT.com) and other MDOT-owned web properties. The DCS will also be responsible for managing other digital content, such as internal digital signage and Public Affairs-owned advertising on MDOT’s intranet.The DCS will work with the Public Affairs Division team to respond to the public via social media and other agency-owned digital properties. The DCS will also execute other special digital-related projects as assigned.The DCS will monitor social media and digital trends for implementation in the department’s overall digital strategy. The DCS will also monitor trends and breaking topics related to the state, transportation, and the legislature.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of social media and digital communication, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail. The successful candidate should be able to manage multiple priorities, work effectively with team members and the public, and stay current with digital trends and technology.
