Job description

Seeking a Savvy Digital Communications Specialist (Remote | 5 hrs/week)

Are you a sharp, efficient communicator who knows how to craft a compelling story and get it seen? Do you love finding the hook others miss and turning it into a campaign that actually cuts through?

The Jade Speaks Up Educational Trust (JSUET) is a small, passionate charity focused on emotional literacy and student wellbeing. We’re launching our first e-learning course for teachers and need a capable communications lead to help us reach our audience through smart, focused storytelling and digital strategy.

We’d love to see:
  • Proven experience pitching stories, media releases, or content to journalists and editors

  • A strong grasp of how traditional and digital media operates (including Meta/Google ad basics)

  • Experience running targeted PR or social impact campaigns

  • Confidence writing and scheduling content for social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)

  • Strong instincts for what makes people pay attention

  • Resourcefulness, independence, and excellent time management

  • Interest in education or wellbeing is a plus, but not essential

The role:
  • Approx. 5 hours per week

  • Remote/flexible – work from anywhere in Aotearoa

  • Contractor role at $50 per hour

  • Initial contract to late December, with possibility to extend

You’ll help us:
  • Build awareness of our new e-learning programme

  • Pitch human-centred stories to media and education platforms

  • Create and post social content that sparks connection and interest

  • Run small but effective digital campaigns to drive sign-ups

  • Track performance and suggest tweaks for greater impact

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear how you’d approach amplifying meaningful stories in a crowded media landscape.
