Job summary

The Connecticut State Library in Hartford is seeking a part-time Digital Collections Librarian (Librarian 1) to support digitization and long-term preservation of historic resources. This role offers a hybrid schedule, 34 hours per week, on the first shift (7:00 AM–5:00 PM) with telework options.

Under the DDCS, you will create metadata, ingest digitized items, ensure discoverability, assist with web content, and help maintain metadata guidelines and workflows, collaborating across units to

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Experience creating metadata records for digital collections preferred.
• Experience with library descriptive metadata standards preferred.
• Experience with digital preservation workflows preferred.
• Experience creating website or social media content preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional duties in cataloging, interlibrary loan, reference, and collection management.
• Assist patrons in locating and obtaining materials.
• Furnish information on library activities, facilities, rules and services.
• Explain and assist in use of reference sources, catalogs, indexes and databases.
• Ingest digitized materials and ensure discoverability across systems.
• Maintain unit policies, standards, and workflows for metadata and ingest.
• Write and edit web pages, create research guides, and propose content ideas for social media.
