WPMT FOX43 seeks a Digital Assignment Editor who is passionate about local news and creating engaging digital content. This role involves managing the assignment desk, dispatching crews, and producing compelling content for digital platforms, including websites, mobile apps, and social media.

Responsibilities

• Produce engaging digital content such as articles, videos, photo galleries, social media posts, push alerts, live streams, and interactive elements.
• Gather and share story updates, tips, and information with the newsroom.
• Review and respond to news releases, tips, emails, user-generated content, and social media messages.
• Conduct reporting efforts, including calls, gathering media, researching, and verifying information.
• Ensure accuracy and balance in stories through editing and collaboration with reporters.
• Work with urgency to publish and update breaking news stories.
• Lead in editorial meetings, pitch story ideas, and use analytics to inform decisions.
• Monitor social media for breaking news, trends, and story opportunities.
• Coordinate content development and distribution across platforms with digital managers and other teams.
• Collaborate with other TEGNA stations and partners to publish trending content.
• Optimize user experience and apply SEO best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
• Experience with content management systems, HTML, CSS, audio/video editing, and social media platforms.
• Strong desire to focus on web-based content creation.
• Creativity, good interpersonal skills, and ability to handle deadlines and multitasking.
• Knowledge of digital photography and video editing is a plus.
