We are working with a top Akkodis client that is looking to add a skilled Digital Archivist to oversee a high‑profile initiative focused on preserving, digitizing, and unlocking decades of engineering and scientific records. This individual will play a critical role in transforming historical archives into a modern, searchable knowledge resource that supports innovation and emerging AI technologies.
This is a contract opportunity, on-site in Niskayuna, New York.
Compensation: $30.00 - $55.00 per hour, W2; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job Responsibilities for the Digital Archivist:
- Lead the assessment, organization, preservation, and management of large archival collections containing historical technical and engineering records.
- Develop and oversee digitization strategies, workflows, vendor relationships, quality standards, and project execution plans.
- Design and implement metadata schemas, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and information governance standards.
- Partner with legal, compliance, records management, and export control teams to classify and manage sensitive documentation.
- Create archival structures and knowledge frameworks that support AI‑driven search, discovery, and retrieval initiatives.
- Drive project planning, stakeholder communication, progress reporting, and continuous process improvement across the archival program.
Job Qualifications for the Digital Archivist:
- Master's degree in Library & Information Science (MLIS), Archival Studies, Information Science, History, or a related discipline.
- Experience managing archival collections, records management programs, digital preservation initiatives, or special collections.
- Knowledge of archival description standards, metadata frameworks, taxonomy development, and digital asset management.
- Experience leading or supporting digitization projects involving paper records, microfilm, microfiche, or other historical media.
- Strong project management, organizational, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with technical, legal, compliance, records management, and business stakeholders in a complex environment.
