Job summary

Garver is seeking a Digital Accessibility Specialist to join the Transportation Business Line Strategic Communications team. The role focuses on improving digital content to meet accessibility best practices and WCAG guidelines, with training for staff on accessibility requirements.

This is an in-office role in a network of 60+ offices, with preference to candidates in Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, or Florida locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, IT, web design, or related fields.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 or later success criteria.
• Experience with Section 508 compliance and remediation.
• Experience remediating web pages, Microsoft Office files, PDFs, and audio/video files.
• Familiarity with accessibility testing and review tools (WAVE, ANDI, Adobe Acrobat).
• Ability to identify accessibility issues and propose effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and remediate digital content for accessibility standards, including PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and websites.
• Conduct accessibility audits of digital content and provide guidance for WCAG and other guidelines.
• Collaborate with content creators to develop best practices for accessible documents.
• Prepare and present reports on compliance status.
• Provide training and support to staff on accessibility tools and techniques.
• Stay current with updates to accessibility legislation and emerging technologies.
• Coordinate with IT, legal, engineering, and communications teams to develop accessibility strategies.
• Manage deliverable timelines with project managers.
