Job summary

Garver is seeking a Digital Accessibility Specialist to join our Transportation Business Line Strategic Communications team in an in-office role. The ideal candidate will improve digital content to align with accessibility best practices and WCAG guidelines, train team members, and ensure compliance across documents and websites.

The role requires detail orientation, collaboration with IT, legal, engineering, and communications, and ongoing updates to accessibility legislation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, IT, web design, or related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 or later success criteria.
• Demonstrated experience with Section 508 compliance and remediation.
• Experience remediating web pages, Microsoft Office files, PDFs, and Audio/Video files.
• Familiarity with accessibility testing and review tools (e.g., WAVE, ANDI, Adobe Acrobat).
• Ability to identify accessibility issues and propose effective solutions.

Job description

Garver is seeking Digital Accessibility Specialist to join our Transportation Business Line Strategic Communications team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for improving digital content to align with accessibility best practices and WCAG guidelines. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for creating inclusive digital environments and training team members on what that requires. This is an in-office position working from any of our 60+ offices with preference given to candidates located in our Tampa, Florida; Oklahoma; Texas; or Missouri offices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
• Familiarity with document authoring and remediation workflows
• Accessibility certification (e.g., DHS Trusted Tester, IAAP CPACC/WAS)
• Knowledge of Civil Engineering
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud
• 3+ years of demonstrated experience
