Job summary

Garver is seeking a Digital Accessibility Specialist to join our Transportation Business Line Strategic Communications team in Dallas. The role focuses on improving digital content to meet WCAG guidelines and accessibility best practices, including training team members.

The position is in-office with 60+ offices; preference given to candidates in Tampa, OK, Texas or Missouri. You will collaborate across IT, legal, engineering, and communications to advance accessibility initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, IT, web design, or related fields.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 or later success criteria.
• Demonstrated experience with Section 508 compliance and remediation.
• Experience remediating web pages, Microsoft Office files, PDFs, and Audio/Video files.
• Familiarity with accessibility testing and review tools (e.g., WAVE, ANDI, Adobe Acrobat).
• Ability to identify accessibility issues and propose effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and remediate digital content for accessibility standards (PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, websites).
• Conduct accessibility audits and guide WCAG compliance.
• Collaborate with content creators to establish accessible document best practices.
• Prepare and present compliance status reports.
• Provide training and support on accessibility tools and techniques.
• Stay updated on accessibility legislation and tech developments.
• Coordinate with IT, legal, engineering, and communications to develop strategies.
• Manage deliverable timelines with project managers.
