Job summary

Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is seeking an Accessibility Specialist to ensure digital content compliance during website redesign and migration. The role focuses on remediation, testing, and validation of documents and media for accessibility, collaborating with content owners, developers, and stakeholders to enable seamless asset transitions and ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

Two or more years of experience in document remediation, testing, and validation of digital content to ensure accessibility compliance.
Experience reviewing remediation for Section 508 and WCAG.
Substitution options for education/experience as allowed by the agency policy.

Responsibilities

Remediate digital documents to meet Section 508 and WCAG requirements across MS Office formats and PDFs.
Conduct accessibility testing using manual and automated methods and assistive technologies.
Develop remediation plans and provide guidance to content owners on accessibility best practices.
Perform QA reviews to validate accessibility and preserve document integrity after remediation.
Support time-based media accessibility by captioning and transcripts as needed.
