Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist Dig Crew with operation of power machinery (shovels, backhoes).
• Assist with setup and inspection of equipment prior to operation.
• Learn digging plans and safe procedures for each application.
• Observe hand signals and markings to ensure work matches specs.
• Receive and follow written or oral material movement instructions.

What does our Dig Crew do?

• Assist Dig Crew with all operations including being able to move levers, depress foot pedals, and turn dials to operate power machinery, such as power shovels, stripping shovels, scraper loaders, or backhoes.
• Assist with the set up or inspection of equipment prior to operation.
• Become familiar with digging plans, machine capabilities and limitations, and with efficient and safe digging procedures in any given application.
• Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.
• Receive written or oral instructions regarding material movement or excavation.
