Job summary

Sheltering Arms Institute in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Dietitian PRN to join our renowned rehabilitation network. You will assess patients’ nutritional status in a busy clinical setting and develop individualized nutrition care plans.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in clinical dietetics, preferably in rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the nutritional status of every patient in a busy rehabilitation hospital.
  • Conduct individualized nutrition evaluations to identify nutrition-related risks.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based nutrition care plans based on physician orders and patient needs.
  • Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and staff to support recovery and chronic condition management.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to integrate nutrition care into the overall treatment plan.
  • Serve as a liaison between the clinical team and food service operations to ensure therapeutic diets are implemented.
  • Adhere to professional standards, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.
  • Work with two other full-time dietitians to support a collaborative nutrition team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Offer a flexible schedule with weekday and/or weekend coverage.

Compensation
  • $42.00 per hour

  • Demonstrates a commitment to excellent customer service and compassionate, patient‑centered care while upholding the hospital’s reputation for clinical excellence.
  • Provides nutrition education to patients, families, and staff to support recovery, functional improvement, and management of chronic conditions.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to integrate nutrition care into the overall treatment plan and effectively communicates nutrition‑related recommendations.
  • Serves as a liaison between the clinical team and food service operations to ensure therapeutic diets and nutrition interventions are implemented appropriately.
  • Adheres to professional standards of practice, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.
  • Works collaboratively with two other experienced full‑time dietitians, contributing to a supportive and knowledgeable nutrition team environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • This position offers a flexible schedule with opportunities for weekday and/or weekend coverage, making it an ideal role for a dietitian seeking flexibility while working in a dynamic clinical rehabilitation setting.
Qualifications & Skills
  • At least three years of experience and demonstrated knowledge and skills in clinical dietetics required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • One year specialty experience in the rehabilitation setting preferred.
Education / Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in dietetics or acceptable prerequisite.
  • Successful completion of an internship required.
  • Certified Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
  • Healthcare professionals CPR certification required.
