Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX is seeking a Registered Dietitian to assess nutritional status and develop medical nutrition therapy plans as part of an interdisciplinary team.

The dietitian will educate patients and the community, participate in performance improvement, and support ongoing staff education, with opportunities for career development within UHS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and registered/licensed in Texas as a RD.
• BLS from American Heart Association on hire or within 90 days.
• 1 year healthcare dietitian experience preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assess nutritional status of inpatient/outpatient populations.
• Develop a nutrition plan of care and implement Medical Nutrition Therapy with team.
• Support training, performance improvement, and community education.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s Degree Required
• Registered Dietitian/Licensed Dietitian registered in state of Texas; or RD eligible.
• BLS from the American Heart Association upon hire, or within 90 days of hire date.
• One-year experience as a dietitian in a healthcare setting preferred
• Good written and oral communication skills required.
• Typing and basic computer skills desired.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications preferred.
• Must successfully complete the pre-employment assessment.

Physical And Sensory Requirements

• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to communicate with staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.
• Ability to remain calm under stress.
• Bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, lifting (10-30 lbs), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, prolonged standing or sitting.
• Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard/metric measurement).
• Will be subjected to cold when entering refrigerator and freezer as well as fumes from chemicals, cooking odors, gases and odors from patient rooms.
• Potential hazards from cuts from knives and meat slicer and/or burns from cooking and heating surfaces.
