Job summary

Integritus Healthcare in Lenox, MA seeks a part-time Dietitian to plan, direct, and evaluate the Dietary Department and its programs. You will coordinate with Nursing, Housekeeping, and Social Services while inspecting storage areas and ensuring compliance with regulations.

The role involves planning diet menus, reviewing therapeutic diets with physicians, and supporting discharge planning. Strong English communication and relevant dietetics credentials are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in nutrition or dietetics.
  • Must be registered as a Dietitian in this state.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or related medical facility.
  • Training in cost control, food management and diet therapy.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with residents, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Dietary Department and its programs.
  • Coordinate dietary services with Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services and others.
  • Inspect storage rooms and prep areas for upkeep and supply control.
  • Review and develop plans of correction from survey inspections.
  • Assist in planning dietary portions of discharge plans.
  • Participate in facility surveys by government agencies.
  • Interview residents or families to obtain diet history.
  • Maintain records of residents' food likes and dislikes.
  • Assist in determining quality and quantity of food served.
  • Plan regular and special diet menus as prescribed by physicians.
  • Develop diet plans for individual residents and review therapeutic diets.
  • Meet with admin, medical and nursing staff to plan food service programs.
  • Ensure dietary work areas are clean, safe, and sanitary.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs for the department.
  • Place orders for equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain stock levels of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist in interviewing food supply vendors.
  • Assist in purchasing food service supplies and equipment.
  • Develop written dietary plans of care and goals for residents.
  • Collaborate with care team to achieve shared goals.

Essential Job Functions
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Dietary Department and its programs
  • Coordinate dietary services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services, etc.).
  • Inspect food storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
  • Review and develop a plan of correction for dietary service deficiencies noted during survey inspections.
  • Assist in planning the dietary services portion of the resident's discharge plan.
  • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
  • Interview residents or family members, as necessary, to obtain diet history.
  • Participate in maintaining records of the resident's food likes and dislikes.
  • Assist in developing methods for determining quality and quantity of food served.
  • Assist in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by the attending physician.
  • Assist in developing diet plans for individual residents.
  • Review therapeutic and regular diet plans and menus to assure they are in compliance with the physician's orders.
  • Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff, & other departments in planning food service programs and activities.
  • Ensure that dietary service work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Ensure that all food storage rooms, preparation areas, etc., are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
  • Recommend to the Dietitian and/or Administrator the equipment and supply needs of the department.
  • Place orders for equipment and supplies as necessary or as may be required.
  • Ensure that stock levels of staple/non-staple food, supplies, equipment, etc., are maintained at adequate levels at all times.
  • Assist in interviewing food supply vendors, as may be required.
  • Assist in the purchasing of food service supplies, equipment, etc., as required.
  • Develop a written dietary plan of care that identifies the dietary problems/needs of the resident and goals to be acquired.
  • Develop and maintain a good rapport with others involved with the care plan to ensure that a team effort is achieved.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher granted by a regionally accredited college or university with completion of the academic requirements of a program in nutrition or dietetics
  • Must be registered as a Dietitian in this state.
  • Must have, as a minimum, 2 year(s) experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility.
  • Must have training in cost control, food management, ant diet therapy
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as to be willing to handle residents, staff and visitors based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
