Advocate Health Stanly - Clinic: Diabetes in Albemarle, NC is seeking a full-time Diabetes Educator (RN or RD) to join our diabetes education team. Active RN or Dietitian license in the state is required; CDCES is preferred and certification should be obtained within 2–3 years if not certified.

Qualifications

• Current license or certification to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Dietitian, in the applicable state.
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) preferred; if not certified, certification within 2–3 years preferred but not required.
• 2 years of patient-oriented educational experience preferred with broad diabetes knowledge.
• Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
• Flexible to adapt to changes in daily routine; ability to lead group education sessions.
• Self-directed and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients on diabetes management and care plans.
• Conduct or lead diabetes education classes and group sessions as needed.
• Collaborate with the care team to coordinate education within treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation and monitor patient progress.

Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required

Current license or certification to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Dietitian, in the State of applicable state. Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) preferred. If not certified, you must obtain certification within two years preferred but not to exceed 3 years.

Education Required

Degree in Nursing, Dietetics, or other related disciplines that meet the certification eligibility requirements for CDCES. If nursing degree, BSN preferred. Master's degree in Dietetics required if Dietician license obtained after 01/01/2024.

Experience Required

2 years of patient-oriented educational experience preferred with a broad range of knowledge on diabetes for age-appropriate population and its interrelation to co-existing health conditions.
