Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital is seeking a Dietitian to deliver medical nutrition therapy in collaboration with the health care team. You will identify patients at nutrition risk, assess needs by age and disease, and develop care plans to meet goals.

The role emphasizes continuity of care, patient education, and ongoing professional development within a comprehensive hospital system in Illinois.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in food and nutrition or dietetics.
  • Registered Dietitian credentialed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Licensed Dietitian in Illinois; maintains licensure and continuing education requirements.
  • Good instructional and communication skills; hospital clinical dietetics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a nutrition plan of care for all assigned patients.
  • Fosters continuity of care across the continuum of care.
  • Evaluates and monitors the outcomes of medical nutrition therapy.
  • Provides nutrition education to patients and families.
  • Manages delivery of nutrition care and participates in performance improvement.
  • Mentors Diet Clerks and support staff.

The salary range for this position is $30.89 - $43.25 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Dietitian reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Dietitian Collaborates with members of the health care team to provide medical nutrition therapy. Identifies patients at high nutrition risk based on criteria outlined by the Hospital. Assesses nutrition needs and identifies nutrient requirements according to age and disease specific needs of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements a nutrition plan of care for all assigned patients.
  • Fosters continuity of care across the continuum of care.
  • Continuously evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy intervention.
  • Provides nutrition education to patients and family members on appropriate food selections and eating behaviors to accomplish patient goals.
  • Manages the delivery of nutrition care services according to the site of care assigned. Participates in performance improvement.
  • Mentors Diet Clerks and other support personnel.
  • Actively assesses, evaluates, and maintains professional development and competency related to the competencies outlined in the position description.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree from accredited institution with major in food and nutrition or dietetics.
  • Registered Dietitian as credentialled by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Licensed Dietitian within the State of Illinois
  • Maintains dietetic registration, state-required credentials and/or licensure and continuing education requirements.
  • Good instructional and communication skills
  • Experience in hospital clinical dietetics preferred

Preferred

  • Proficiency in Nutrition Focused Physical Exams
  • Previous active role with hospital or department Performance Improvement projects or committees
