The Dietitian is responsible for providing basic nutrition assessments and care planning for patients and residents. Implements business practices in line with the hospital's mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Directs dietary care of patients with basic nutrition needs, including screening, assessment, and care planning to ensure dietary needs and patient satisfaction.
• Educates medical staff and counsels patients and families on proper nutritional care.
• Manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to Hackensack Meridian Health standards and policies.
• Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on processes, nutrition care, diets, and menu requests.
• Stays current with the latest trends, research, policies, certifications, and standards of practice in nutrition.
• Identifies potential problems and updates the manager on resolutions.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as hospital policies (e.g., HIPAA, safety, quality assurance).
• Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements, and communicates them across departments.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
• Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree
• Entry-level experience
• PC skills and applicable applications

Preferred:

• Clinical experience in acute care or related fields

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist within 60 days of starting the position.
