Responsibilities

The Dietitian - Diabetes Educator serves as a provider of diabetes care and education within the Norton Healthcare System. Provides direct patient care and support, including evaluation and teaching of insulin and anti-hyperglycemic agents, and delivery tools. Manages patients' routine diabetes care through assessment of advanced diabetes technologies (including glucose meters, interstitial glucose sensors, and subcutaneous insulin infusion pumps). Delivers comprehensive diabetes care and education covering nutrition, basic diabetes management, complication prevention, lifestyle and behavior modification, while assessing patient comprehension, psychosocial factors, and social determinants of health. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, applying age-appropriate principles for patients from infants to geriatrics. Participates in organizational committees and collaborates with external programs to enhance health and wellness options. Conducts onsite programs and classes to provide nutrition and health education to patients and families in various settings, including ambulatory, emergency, and hospital environments, via face-to-face or remote modalities.

Qualifications

Required:

• One year of experience in the specialty area
• Bachelor's Degree
• Dietitian licensure (State) KY and IN
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (National)

Desired:

• Master's Degree
• Certified Diabetes Educator (National) OR Licensed Diabetes Educator (State) OR Diabetes Care and Education Specialist OR one of: CDE or CDCES. Must obtain within two and a half years of hire OR Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist
