Outpatient Registered Dietitian

The Outpatient Registered Dietitian functions independently, delivering education to patients in group, individual, and telephone settings. The role involves researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for patients, staff, and the community.

About the Role

Will work independently to create and assess educational initiatives aimed at improving patient health and community awareness. The position offers a chance to serve a small community and make a meaningful impact on patient lives.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate patient education programs.
• Provide group and individual patient education sessions, both in‑person and virtual.
• Deliver medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and individual counseling.
• Teach and model self‑management skills, healthy lifestyle concepts, and behavior modification tools for class participants.
• Work with patients having chronic diseases and primary prevention programs.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate educational training and community outreach programs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Food or Nutrition Science.
• National CDR Registered Dietitian credential (Commission on Dietetic Registration) upon hire.
• One year of experience in an outpatient healthcare setting.
• One year of experience teaching patients (adults and children) in group and individual settings.
• Experience providing MNT and individual counseling.
• Experience teaching and modeling health behavior modification for class participants.
• Experience working with chronic disease patients and primary prevention programs.
• Experience in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and educational training.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and a Windows email system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nutritional Science, Public Health, Health Education, or related field.
• Additional specialty certification related to department and patient needs (e.g., weight management, cancer care, pediatric issues, renal, exercise instruction) upon hire.
• Pediatric nutrition therapy certifications upon hire.
• Experience with children’s health issues and other primary prevention topics.
• Pediatric nutrition therapy experience.
• Proficiency with PowerPoint, Access, and GroupWise.
