Job Description

The Dietitian Clinical – PRN as Needed is responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy to patients at Douglas Hospital. The dietitian will work as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess, diagnose, and treat nutritional needs of patients. The dietitian will also provide nutrition education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Essential Functions
  1. Assess nutritional needs of patients
  2. Develop and implement nutrition care plans
  3. Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions
  5. Participate in research and quality improvement activities
  6. Mentor dietetic interns and diet technicians
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition/dietetics from an accredited institution
  • Completion of a supervised practice didactic program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)
  • Registered Dietitian or Licensed Dietitian within 180 days of hire
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in clinical nutrition and the dietetics profession
  • Ability to think critically to apply nutrition interventions to patients with multiple comorbidities and/or special needs
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with other healthcare professionals
Preferred Qualifications
  • One to two years of clinical experience
  • Experience with electronic medical record charting systems and other software related to food service systems
  • Knowledge of malnutrition assessment including performance of nutrition-focused physical exams
