Cayuga Health is seeking a Registered Dietitian per diem to join a collaborative nutrition team serving Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca and Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY. The role requires acute care experience, thorough nutrition assessments, and patient education tailored to individual care plans.

Onsite work with rotating coverage, travel between locations up to 50% is expected, and the team supports ongoing professional development within a supportive, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Dietitian; must complete and pass exam within 6 months of hire.
• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
• Master's degree preferred.
• One year of experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' nutritional status and needs, including screening for malnutrition and developing individualized nutrition interventions and care plans based on clinical diagnoses and established standards.
• Provide inpatient nutrition counseling and education regarding prescribed diets, nutritional supplements, and other nutrition-related recommendations to support treatment goals and patient understanding.
• Develop and implement clinically appropriate nutrition plans, including menus aligned with nutritional standards and recommendations for enteral and parenteral nutrition support as indicated.
• Serve as the department representative on the interdisciplinary clinical care team, collaborating with healthcare professionals to support comprehensive, patient-centered nutrition care.
• Adhere to applicable local, state, and federal safety and sanitation requirements, serving as a subject matter expert for food service management software, and supporting additional departmental needs as appropriate.
