Job summary

David Raines Community Health Centers seeks a dedicated Dietician to support the WIC program with nutrition education and counseling for patients. The role includes counseling, certification duties, and staff training while coordinating with the regional office.

Requirements include Louisiana licensure, 2+ years of professional experience, and experience with electronic health records (NextGen preferred). Availability after hours and on weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a Louisiana Dietetics and Nutrition License.
• Must have at least two (2) years of professional experience.
• Experience with electronic health records required, preferably NextGen or similar EHS.
• Must be available to work after hours and weekends as required by management.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient counseling during regular clinics and to high-risk patients by referral.
• Certifies and recertifies eligible patients.
• Provides in-service training to WIC staff members.
• Recommends suspension or removal of patients from the program due to violations.
• Provides nutrition education lessons and ongoing training to expand nutrition education topics.
• Ensures counseling of patients meets quality and quantity needs.
• Serves as liaison between DRCHC and regional office.
• Supports staff as a nutrition/breastfeeding resource.
• Collaborates with local breastfeeding coordinators for the local breastfeeding initiative.

David Raines Community Health Centers is looking for passionate, qualified applicants to join our team!

General Description

The Dietician works with the DRCHC WIC Program by providing nutrition education and counseling to WIC patients. The Dietician handles an assortment of issues as they arise relating to dietary services and will assist in the other areas as needed.

Work Experience Requirements

• Provides direct patient counseling during selected regular clinics and to all high-risk patients by referral.
• Certifies and recertifies eligible patients.
• Provides in-service training to WIC staff members.
• Recommends suspension or removal of patients from the program due to violations.
• Provides nutrition education lessons and ongoing training to expand or renew nutrition education topics.
• Responsible for ensuring that the counseling of the patients is of sufficient quality and quantity and meets the needs of the patient.
• Serves as a liaison between the DRCHC and regional office.
• Serves as support/resource person to staff concerning nutrition and breastfeeding.
• Collaborates with local breastfeeding coordinators in the development and oversight of the local breastfeeding initiative.
