Job description

• Department: Department of Health and Human Services

This position is located in the Clinical and Community Nutrition Services Department with Chinle Service Unit in Chinle, AZ. The purpose of the position is to plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition services, education and prevention with special emphasis on individual and family-oriented education. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Key Responsibilities

Medical nutrition therapy to individuals and nutrition education to groups. Evaluate pattems and relationships among data obtained and root causes for nutrition problerns. Obtains data and analyze and interpret data based on evidence-based standards. Develop and implement an individualized plan for nutrition intervention according to the patient's medical program goals and objectives, nutrition prescription, and self-management training.

Provides health education/promotion interventions including breastfeeding support to individuals and groups Creates, maintains, and updates daily, weekly, and monthly activity schedules to manage workload. Additional Requirement (Continued): Flexibility in duty hours, Required to work rotating shifts, after hours, weekends and holidays. Government Housing may be available.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.
