Job summary

The Milwaukee Dietitian will support Milwaukee County Corrections by interfacing with client medical departments, providing field support to facilities, and training operations to manage diet types and numbers.

You will work with the TSG Nutrition Department to implement menus, ensure compliance with ACA/JCAHO/NCCHC audits, review diet rosters, and participate in QA and corrective actions to protect inmate and staff health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Nutrition or Dietetics and RD credential.
• Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist or license eligibility required.
• At least three years of experience in clinical dietetics; food service admin preferred.
• Knowledge of correctional facility kitchen operations and diet provision.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgement.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Work with the TSG Nutrition Dept and operations to implement approved menus and edits.
• Coordinate with Regional Dietician for updated menus, analysis, and diet reports for audits.
• Notify Regional Dietitian to develop diet menus for non-formulary orders.
• Ensure Milwaukee facilities comply with ACA, JCAHO, NCCHC, ICE, BOP, etc.
• Participate in Audit readiness plans and action-of-records.
• Review facility diet rosters for excessive diet orders (medical & religious).
• Communicate with Client Liaison/Medical Dept to assist diet concerns and recommendations.
• Consult with Client Medical Providers and review production records for accuracy.
• Review diet compliance tracking and escalate non-compliance as needed.
• Schedule and deliver training for diet/religious diet cooks.
• Perform daily review of diet meals and ensure trays match diet spreadsheets; correct discrepancies.
• Monitor corrective actions and maintain QA programs (HACCP, WI DOC, Ecosure, SSOP).
• Assist in evaluating new products/vendors for nutritional impact.
• Develop and implement training for staff, inmate workers, and county staff.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

The Milwaukee Dietitian will be supporting Milwaukee County Corrections. Responsible for interfacing with client/client medical departments within assigned county facilities. Provides field support to the Milwaukee facilities and training to operations, helping to manage types and numbers of diets. Supports Trinity Services Group (TSG) operational and sales team members, working closely with clients, staff and co-workers throughout TSG.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Work in conjunction with the TSG Nutrition Department and operational group with implementing any approved new menus and/or edits to existing menus to ensure specifications are being met.
• Coordinate with Regional Dietician to provide county client contact as per contract with updated nutritional analysis, service menus, and diet reports for their facilities audit requirements.
• Notify the Regional Dietitian to develop any diet menus for non-formulary orders.
• Ensures all Milwaukee facilities comply with specified regulatory agencies ( ACA, JCAHO, NCCHC, ICE, BOP, etc.)
• Actively participates in Audit readiness plans, through reviews of facilities, providing Plans of Action upon completion.
• Regularly reviews Facility diet rosters/lists for excessive diet orders, both medical and religious.
• Communicates with Client Liaison/Facility Medical Department to assist with diet concerns and make recommendations to control numbers and types of diets.
• Consults with and maintains open relationship with Client Medical Providers.
• Review production records as needed for accuracy of diet menu items.
• Review documentation of diet compliance tracking records; ensure non-compliance is communicated to medical or Chaplain for counseling/discontinuation of diet.
• Schedule, present and implement employee training for diet/religious diet cooks.
• Perform daily review of diet meals (therapeutic/religious) to ensure diet trays are assembled correctly as per diet spreadsheets. Notify operations immediately to correct any discrepancies noted.
• Monitor that corrective actions are implemented.
• Assist in reviewing new products and vendors for nutritional impact/acceptability.
• Maintain compliance with HACCP, WI DOC, Ecosure, State Audits, SSOP plans and in-house Quality Assurance programs for all areas of the assigned scope.
• Conducts/Assists facility audits, service audits, documents findings, and work directly with operational group to bring about corrective actions, as needed.
• Daily responsibilities will also include maintaining quality assurance policies throughout the production processes, including analytical testing of products and record keeping.
• Develop and implement nutritional, health, wellness, and knowledge enrichment training programs to TSG staff, MKE inmate workers, residents, and/or county staff, as deemed by leadership.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Nutrition or Dietetics; Registered Dietitian through The Commission on Dietetic Registration; membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist, or license eligible for the specific states of responsibility, as required.
• At least three (3) years’ experience in clinical dietetics; experience in food service administration is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic work area operations and procedures (correctional facility kitchen and provision of correctional medical and religious diets)
• Ability to work independently and use sound judgement.
• Communicate professionally and effectively through both oral and written forms.
• Utilize standard Microsoft Office products and Outlook at an effective level.
