Job summary

PeaceHealth seeks a Dietitian I for a full-time position in Oregon. The role coordinates nutrition care, provides education to patients and families, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Requirements include a Master's degree, AND internship, and RD eligibility or licensing. Oregon licensure for outpatient work is preferred; wage is based on education and experience.

Job description

PeaceHealth is seeking a Dietician I for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $33.13 – $49.69. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of nutrition care, consulting with other healthcare professionals as needed.

Details of the Position:
  • Competent use of the Nutrition Care Process including nutrition assessment, identification of nutritional diagnosis, implementation of appropriate nutrition intervention, and formulation of patient specific goals, monitoring, evaluation, and follow up of outcomes.
  • Using evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines, will provide nutrition education to patients and families in the outpatient and/or inpatient settings.
  • Provides consult services to other healthcare providers and participates in the interdisciplinary team.
  • Documents in the EMR in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations.
  • When appropriate, makes referrals to other services, agencies and community resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
  • Master's Degree Required: in a related field of study. Caregivers who earned their RD license before 1/1/2024 when a bachelor's degree was sufficient will be grandfathered.
  • Required: Successful completion of AND approved internship/training program
  • Required: within 180 days Registered Dietitian Required at hire or must pass Registration Exam and
  • May be required: Licensed Dietitian - Oregon Required for Outpatient and PHMG/Ambulatory Dietitians in OR. Inpatient Dietitians are not required to maintain state certification in OR
Skills
  • Demonstrated skill in teaching adults and pediatrics of varying competency levels. (Required)
  • Must be able to design, implement, and evaluate instructional materials. (Required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Required)
  • Ability to interact with a variety of departments and work independently on numerous projects simultaneously. (Required)
  • Proficient in the use of computers including MS Office applications. (Required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)
Department / Location Specific Notes

Bariatric Surgery Dietitians:

  • Provides one-on-one nutrition counseling, teaching group nutrition classes, and leading support groups.
  • Participates in program events, including information sessions, pre/postoperative weight loss groups and bariatric forums.
  • Specialist certification in Obesity and Weight management issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required or must obtain within 12 months of hire.
