Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) - Optalis Healthcare
Location: Columbus, OH

The Dietetic Technician is part of the nutrition team that oversees the nutritional and dietary needs of the residents within the facility. They assist in the development of dietary orders, nutritional supplementation, and counseling needs for resident care plans, in coordination with other team members. The Diet Tech ensures that nutritional requirements are incorporated into dining services production and operations, and provides overall planning, recommendations, documentation, and control of resident nutritional needs in the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions, and current health plans to develop, implement, and document nutrition care plans and provide nutritional counseling.
  2. Advise residents and their families on nutritional principles, intervention plans, diet modifications, and food selection and preparation.
  3. Counsel individuals and groups on good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve quality of life.
  4. Perform quality inspections of meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and standards of palatability and appearance.
  5. Advise Food and Nutrition Services Manager on sanitation, safety procedures, budgeting, and planning to assist with food service facilities and nutrition programs.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Degree from an accredited Dietetic Technician program.
  2. LTC experience is a plus.
  3. Current registration by the Commission on Dietetics Registration.
