Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Nutrition Support Aide for the Infant Nourishment Room. You will coordinate storage, preparation, and packaging of breast milk and formulas and document nutritional care for patients.

You will label and measure milk/formula, and fill feeding orders per physician instructions. The role requires clinical nutrition experience, HS diploma or equivalent, and NDTR credential preferred.

Qualifications

  • Clinical experience in nutrition support or related care setting.
  • Experience documenting patient nutrition care.
  • Ability to follow department standards for feeding preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides individualized patient care with storage, preparation, and packaging of breast milk and formulas in the Infant Nourishment Room.
  • Documents all relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Generates labels, measures milk/formula, calculates additives and fills feeding orders for a 24‑hour period, according to physician order.
  • Adheres to all sanitary regulations and standards per policy. Responsible for safe operation of equipment needed to prepare infant milk mixtures.
  • Identifies opportunities for performance improvement on the unit and with other service areas.
  • Communicates effectively with other care providers to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by managing time, reducing waste, and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
  • Responds to management, nursing, and patient requests appropriately.
  • Attends in‑service trainings and other required hospital training as directed.
  • Maintains documentation for the Infant Nourishment Room (temperature logs, expired products, etc.).
  • Completes additional duties potentially including data collection, HealthTouch operations, patient satisfaction initiatives, and assisting registered dietitians.

Requirements

  • Attends in‑service educations and other required hospital training as directed.
  • Accurately maintains all documentation for the Infant Nourishment Room i.e. temperature logs, expired products, etc.
  • Completes additional duties potentially including data collection, HealthTouch operations, patient satisfaction initiatives (i.e. patient rounds, test trays, etc), and assisting registered dietitians.
