Job Overview:

The Dietetic Technician performs diversified duties in the diet office, such as maintaining diet records, tallying food requirements, and other related tasks. The technician demonstrates Barnabas Health's philosophy of Total Quality Management by applying it in all dealings with internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of normal and therapeutic nutrition

Preferred:

• Graduate of Dietetic Assistant/Technician Program
• One (1) year food service experience

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• Mostly alternate weekend coverage
• Per Diem

Essential Functions:

• Collect patient menus and maintain diet office computer program
• Follow standard practices and comply with regulatory requirements
• Ensure patient satisfaction with meals and that they receive their chosen items
• Assist patients with menus, ensuring they receive their preferences
• Answer telephone, take messages, and relay information
• Oversee serving tray line, check patient choices against diet roster, and ensure prescribed diets are followed
• Correct modified menus at bedside with patient concurrence whenever possible
• Deliver food carts to units and monitor tray accuracy
• Document allergies, preferences, snacks, and supplements in the patient’s diet file in TDS as needed
• Inventory and order nutrition supplements, ensuring pantry needs are met
• Prepare production reports and distribute to relevant areas
