Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration seeks a Health Technician (Dietetic) at the Providence VA Medical Center in Rhode Island to provide administrative and patient meal support within the Nutrition and Food Service.

This full-time position offers varied shifts (6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.) including weekends and holidays, with opportunities to advance from GS-3/4 toward the full GS-5 level, pending performance and funding.

Qualifications

• Administrative and customer service support in hospital food service.
• Ability to interpret diet orders and communicate with clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Handles patient meal service orders and enters meal orders into Dietetics Software system.
• Provides professional and courteous customer service via telephone, e-mail, and in-person.
• Collaborates with Dietitians regarding Food/Drug Interactions and notifies clinical staff of issues.
• Interprets and processes diet orders and prepares meal tickets.
• Triages calls from inpatient units or outpatient clinics related to meal trays or nourishments.
