Job summary

Alameda Center For Rehabilitation & Healthcare is seeking a Dietary Supervisor to lead the Food Services team. The role reports to the Food Service Director and focuses on planning, supervising, and delivering meals for residents, employees and visitors.

The position requires Food Service Certification and an Associate degree preferred; duties include ensuring quality, sanitation, budget compliance, and staff training in a compassionate, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic principles of dietetic, food sanitation and service.
  • Familiar with large-scale purchases and preparation of food, food and labor laws, and with accepted food service techniques.
  • Possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Provide annual verification of negative TB skin test.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures responsibility for the quality and quantity of food served;
  • Adheres to all sanitary regulations governing handling and serving of food;
  • Oversees that meals are prepared and served on schedule;
  • Investigates trends and developments in dietary, practices and techniques, and evaluates their adaptability to dietary programs;
  • Develops, revises, and adapts work techniques and methods for more efficient operation of unit and for training employees;
  • Prepares and serves food in accordance with national standards and administrative policies within budget allowances;
  • Maintains accurate records and reports;
  • Offers assistance and input to Food Service Director during both the performance appraisal and disciplinary process for dietary staff;
  • Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights;
  • Performs other duties as requested including Cooking.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dietary Supervisor, is the second highest level position in the Food Services Department. He/she reports to the Food Service Director and assists the Director in planning and supervising activities of the department to provide service to residents, employees and visitors. The Assistant Food Service Director assists in providing technical guidance and administrative direction over food planning, menu formulation and serving of regular and therapeutic diets.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

NOTE: These duties become the responsibility of the Supervisor in the absence of the Food Services Director.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Food Service Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies is required. Associate degree in Food Service preferred.
