Job summary

HMR Veterans Services in Houston, TX is seeking a Dietary Staff member to support resident meals and dietary operations in a caring, mission-driven environment. You will work on-site with the dietary team, following policies, portion control, and safety guidelines to serve nutritious meals to our veterans.

Responsibilities include collaborating with the facility dietitian, maintaining clean dining and storage areas, monitoring inventory, and assisting with special meals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain cleanliness and safety in food areas.
• Demonstrates patience, tact and a positive attitude with residents and others.
• Open to learning new methods to improve dietary practices.

• Maintain effective communication with interdepartmental staff to ensure quality food service.
• Prepare and serve meals on time, following portion control and dietary guidelines; assist with special meals.
• Set up and clean dining areas, trays and carts; wash and store utensils and equipment properly.
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary food storage, prep, and service areas; follow health and safety protocols.
• Monitor food inventory, assist with deliveries, substitutions, and report issues or improvements to the Dietary Manager.

What You'll Do

As a Dietary Staff, you will a ssist in all dietary functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures. Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with the facility dietitian and implement recommended changes.
