Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required by law.
  • Completion of an approved Food Management Course is required.
  • CDM or CFSM certification is preferred.
  • Previous dietary management experience in healthcare or senior living.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition, diets, and dietary restrictions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and safety awareness.
  • Proficient with computer applications including menu planning software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the dietary department, ensuring nutrition, safety and service quality.
  • Plan menus that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
  • Procure food and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Recruit, train and supervise dietary staff; conduct evaluations.
  • Assess residents' dietary requirements and coordinate with healthcare staff.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with sanitation, safety and infection control.
  • Monitor quality and presentation of meals and address concerns promptly.
  • Manage department budgets and cater to special requests.

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Dietary Services Manager to join our team. As the Dietary Services Manager, you will oversee all aspects of our dietary department, ensuring the highest standards of nutrition, food safety, and service. You will play a vital role in the overall well-being and satisfaction of our residents through coordinator with other departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Menu Planning: Develop and implement well-balanced, nutritious, and appetizing menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
  • Food Procurement: Manage the purchasing of food and supplies while maintaining budgetary guidelines.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise dietary staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Dietary Assessment: Conduct assessments of residents' dietary requirements and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure their needs are met.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including sanitation, food handling, and infection control.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality and presentation of meals, addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Budget Management: Manage the dietary services budget efficiently while delivering high-quality food and services.
  • Customer Service: Foster positive relationships with residents and their families, addressing any concerns or special requests.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in dietary services, staying updated on industry best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum required by law, but not less than a high school diploma.
  • Successful completion of an approved Food Management Course.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Certified Food Service Manager (CFSM) certification (preferred).
  • Previous experience in dietary management in a healthcare or senior living setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition, special diets, and dietary restrictions.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including menu planning software.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for maintenance of accurate records for purchasing, expenses, inventory, budgets and staff time charts, cash register receipts and in-service Dietitian reports monthly.
  • Responsible for adequate staffing and yearly evaluations, interviews, and orients new personnel.
  • Supervises and reviews diet changes and assessments, residents’ nutritional needs and habits on one-fourth basis by care planning.
  • Works with Consultant Dietitian to develop policy, procedure, preparation ofcycle menus in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Assists in and plans special activities involving the dietary department.
  • Conducts and maintains records on part of in-service.
  • Responsible for the supervision of meal preparation, service, and cleaning of work area to ensure that all residents are being served and accepting meals.
