Job summary

Apple Rehab West Haven is seeking a Dietary Manager to lead the Dietary Department within approved budgets and quality standards. You will ensure policy adherence, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with other departments to support resident nutrition and care.

The role includes staffing development, supervision of dietary staff, and participation in ongoing education, with opportunities for advancement within Apple Rehab's community of facilities.

Qualifications

• CDM or CSFM certification or associates degree in food service management/hospitality.
• Serv Safe Manager certification.
• Experience in hospital or long-term care preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand English; perform simple math.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Dietary Department within approved budget and quality standards.
• Ensure adherence to written dietary policies and manuals; maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Develop organizational structure, staffing and direction; supervise personnel actions including hiring, evaluations and schedules.
• Participate in continuing education and empower employees; support promotions and transfers within Apple Rehab branches.

Job Description:

Dietary Manager

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Dietary Department, its programs and activities within approved budget and quality standards. The Dietary Managerensures that all written dietary policies, procedures, and manuals are adhered to, maintained and updated.

The Dietary Managermaintains compliance with state and federal regulations in preparation for state survey. The Dietary Managerprepares recommendations to the Administrator concerning department operations. Fosters and maintains inter-departmental communication and cooperation to ensure that any reported concerns are addressed and corrected.

The Dietary Managerdevelops the organizational structure, staffing and direction within policy and budgetary guidelines. Responsibly exercises authority to take necessary personnel actions for department personnel including actions impacting employment such as hire, evaluations, work assignments and schedules. The Dietary Managerassists in departmental conflict resolution and makes recommendations for discipline. Also participates in continuing education and empowerment of employees as well as makes recommendations for promotion and transfers within branches of Apple Rehab.

Qualifications:

• Must hold one of the following: CDM Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Service Manager, certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body, or an Associates Degree or higher in food service management or hospitality from an accredited institution of higher learning.

• Must hold Serv Safe Manager certification
• Ability to read, write and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure and record data.
• Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to supervise and instruct others.
• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.

• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks
