Full-Time Dietary Cook

Patapsco Healthcare is looking for someone energetic to fill a cook role in our skilled nursing facility.The primary purpose of this job position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Dietitian and/or Director of Food Services, to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.

Duties may include, but not limited to:

• Review menus prior to preparation of food.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and coordinating department policies and procedures, food service manuals, job descriptions, etc.
• Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, family members, etc., as necessary.
• Assist in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by the attending physician. Assure that food is available for preparation by cooks.
• Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submit to the Director of Food Services as required.
• Coordinate food services with other departments as necessary.
• Work with the facility’s dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
• Ensure that all food service procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Assist in developing methods for determining quality and quantity of food served.
• Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.
• Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of Head Cook.
• Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Process diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services.
• Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed.
• Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.
• Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility’s information system.
• Have ongoing involvement in the QAPI (Quality Assurance Process Improvement) program as necessary.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED Required
• Safe-Serve Certification Required
• Previous food service aide experience is helpful
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.

Physical Requirements:Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty (50) feet, stand on feet for more than 6 hours a day. (Not a complete list)

Preferred Skills:Dietary experience in a long-term care setting preferred, but not required.
