Job summary

Arbor-Care-Centers in Ord, NE is seeking a Cook to prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents and staff. You will follow recipes, meet mealtime schedules, and monitor temperatures while adhering to sanitation standards. The role involves teamwork with the dietary department and flexibility for day and evening shifts.

Preferred candidates have at least 1 year in a dietary setting and 1 year of cooking experience, focusing on quality and compassionate service.

Responsibilities

• Handles and prepares food in accordance with federal, state and local sanitary regulations.
• Prepares nutritionally appropriate meals, including modified diets as prescribed.
• Meets required meal schedules.
• Prevents food waste using production sheets and meetings.
• Cares for dietary equipment.
• Follows menus and special diet instructions.
• Monitors temperatures and ensures safe cooling/storage per guidelines.
• Communicates with supervisors.
• Cooperates with dietary staff.
• Ensures high-quality service in a compassionate atmosphere.

Job description

Our Cookis responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of food for customers, team members, and visitors. He/she prepares food according to recipes and plans cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules. In addition, the Cook coach’s other dietary team members in the absence of the Director of Dietary Services and the Assistant Director of Dietary Services.

1. Handles and prepares food in accordance with federal, state and local sanitary regulations.

2. Prepares nutritionally appropriate and appetizing meals, including modified consistency and therapeutic diets, as prescribed by the attending physician.

3. Meets required meal schedules.

4. Takes accurate measures to avoid food waste, including participating in production meetings with supervisor(s) and use of production sheets.

5. Properly cares for dietary equipment.

6. Follows menus and special diet instructions.

7. Takes food temperatures per policy and insure food items are prepared, cooled and stored in adherence to corporate, local, state and federal guidelines. Follow cleaning schedules, and daily deep cleaning task.

8. Communicates freely with supervisor(s).

9. Cooperates with other dietary department staff.

10. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
