Job summary

Alvarado Care Center is seeking a Dietary Cook to prepare a wide variety of foods for residents, staff, and visitors in Los Angeles. You will follow menus and recipes, plan mealtime cooking schedules, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.

The role requires high school education or equivalent, experience in commercial food prep, and ability to interact positively with residents. TB testing may be required by policy and state law. On-call schedule applies.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial/volume food preparation is required.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must provide TB test verification as required by state law and company policy.
• Ability to positively interact with residents/patients.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a wide variety of foods according to menus and recipes


• Plan cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules


• Perform related duties and cleaning duties as assigned


• Direct other Food and Nutrition Services employees in the absence of the Food Service Director and Assistant Food Service Director/Chef Manager


• Maintain a clean and safe food preparation environment

Requirements:

• HIGH SCHOOL education or equivalent preferred


• Experience in commercial/volume food preparation required


• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the spoken English language


• Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in accordance with Company policy


• Ability to positively interact with residents/patients
