Rite of Passage is hiring a Dietary Cook for the Childhelp, Alice C. Tyler Village facility in Lignum, Virginia. You will prepare breakfasts, snacks and dinners for 80–100 residents and staff, and lunches for 150.

The role follows physician-directed therapeutic diets and HACCP standards to ensure safe, nutritious meals. The position offers full-time schedule with weekend rotations; pay starts at $17 per hour and is negotiable based on experience.

Qualifications

• Be at least 19 years of age.
• Preferred high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one-year of experience in meal preparation in a school or institutional setting.
• ServSafe Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
• Current Virginia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Able to pass background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, snacks and dinner for 80–100 residents and staff; lunch for 150.
• Follow physician-directed therapeutic diets and HACCP principles.
• Ensure safe, sanitary food handling and kitchen cleanliness.
• Maintain daily kitchen operations including cooking, cleaning, and serving.

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of at‑risk youth! Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Dietary Cook at Childhelp, Alice C. Tyler Village in Lignum, Virginia

Childhelp is a psychiatric residential treatment facility that specializes in the treatment of children aged 5-14 with mild to severe trauma or neglect, psychiatric disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our unique location on a 270-acre farm provides a nurturing treatment setting with a variety of therapy resources. We bring the light of love and healing into the lives of countless abused and neglected children, and those suffering from psychiatric and behavioral disorders. Pay: Starting at $17 an hour, negotiable based on experience.

What you will do: As a Dietary Cook you will provide high quality and attractive meals, which meet the nutritional needs of our residents in our facility while establishing and following special therapeutic diets as requested by the physician. You will be preparing Breakfast, snack and dinner for 80-100 residents and staff. Lunch preparation is for 150 residents and staff. You will be responsible for all aspects of the daily function of the kitchen (cooking, dishes, cleaning, and serving). We are committed to providing a friendly, professional and clean atmosphere focused on offering quality food products prepared in a safe and sanitary environment. You will need to be able to follow the USDA and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Ensure HACCP principles are applied to all food received and prepared in the facility.

• Be at least 19 years of age
• Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one-year of experience in meal preparation in a school or institutional setting
• A current ServSafe Food Handlers Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment
• Must possess a current unrestricted Virginia Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three years
• Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen (we no longer test for THC), physical, and TB test.

Schedule: Full-Time: Sunday 8am-6pm, Monday Wednesday and Thursday 5am-3pm.
