Job summary

The Ridge Behavioral Health System in Lexington, KY is seeking a Dietary Cook on a Per Diem/PRN basis, with every other weekend shifts, to support our 110-bed psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents and adults.

You will prepare and serve meals for patients and staff, follow all policies and menus, and maintain infection control and sanitation standards to ensure quality, nutrition and timely service in a busy hospital kitchen.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent recommended.
• Must obtain a food handler’s permit.
• One to two years of experience in quantity food preparation.
• Some formal training or on the job training in food preparation, cooking, and estimating food supplies.

The Ridge Behavioral Health System is a 110-bed hospital located in the heart of the Bluegrass, Lexington, KY. The Ridge provides psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. The Ridge offers Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Individual Counseling, as well as Medication Management for all ages. We have provided behavioral health services to over 92 Kentucky counties for more than 39 years.

Job Duties include:

• Preparing and serving foods to patients and personnel.
• Follow and abide by all policies and procedures, menus, recipes, and guidelines to provide accurate quality and quantities of food.
• Follow all infection control/sanitation/safety standards.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent recommended.

Certifications / Licensure

• Must obtain a food handler’s permit.

Experience

• One to two years of experience in quantity food preparation. Some formal training or on the job training in food preparation, cooking, and estimating food supplies.

Other Skills

• Must be thoroughly familiar with foods and preparation methods.
• Must know proper methods and cooking temperatures.
• Must be able to space and time the cooking of items so that their nutritional quality, flavor, and appearance are preserved.
