Job summary

Volunteers of America National Services Preserve Rehab & Living Center in Fort Myers, FL is hiring a part-time Dietary Assistant to support meal service, food preparation, and patient care routines in a warm, resident-focused environment.

Ideal candidates enjoy working with the elderly, have basic reading of recipes and diet orders, and can operate dietary equipment safely. We offer competitive hourly pay, benefits, and opportunities for growth within a caring healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.
• Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand procedures, recipe directions and diet order cards.
• Adequate strength and endurance for food prep and cleaning duties.
• Ability to work in hot/cold environments and use dietary equipment safely.
• Ability to use computers for timekeeping and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assists in defined food preparation, serving meals and cleaning duties.
• Follows procedures for all duties as directed by supervisors.
• Attends required in-services and completes online modules.

Hourly Pay: $15.60-$16.64 per hour based on experience

Shift: Part Time 22hrs a week - Sat, Sun and Mon

What You Bring (Requirements)

• Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.
• Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments, instructions, recipe directions and diet order cards.
• Numerical ability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Adequate strength, endurance and coordination to meet the strenuous physical demands of such responsibilities as preparing food items, carrying quantity foods, serving meals, handling soiled dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning assigned work areas.
• Coordination and dexterity for preparing food and operating dietary equipment safely.
• Ability to work in an area that is often very hot/cold.
• Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in servicing and documentation.

Essentials

• Assists in defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Management Team and/or Cook.
• Understands and follows procedures related to all duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Management Team and/or Cook.
• Attends required in-services and completes assigned online modules.
