Job summary

Fundamental in Summerville, SC, is seeking a Dietary Assistant to prepare and serve meals for patients and staff. You will work under the Dietary Manager to ensure meals meet dietary orders and preferences, supporting a positive dining experience for residents.

The role emphasizes food safety, timely preparation, and collaboration with the kitchen team. Qualifications include a high school diploma and fluency in English; healthcare food-service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
• Experience in food prep and service in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and/or service of meals for patients, employees, and special events.
• Serve food according to the planned menu/spreadsheet and patient/resident preferences and diet orders.
• Assist the Cook by ensuring food handling and portioning are correct and timely as per the diet orders.
• May wash dishes or assist as instructed by the Dietary Manager.

Posted Salary Range

USD $14.00 – USD $16.00 /Hr.

Wage Commensuration

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, education and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and/ or service of meals/ food for patients, employees, and special events as instructed by the Dietary Manager.
• Serve food and snacks according to the planned menu/spreadsheet and the patient’s/resident's food preferences and diet order.
• Assist the Cook by ensuring the food prepared/and or pre-portioned using proper food handling/ safety techniques and is of proper quantity, completed on time as scheduled, and is in accordance with the menu & residents’ diet order.
• May wash dishes, etc. when necessary or when instructed to do so by the Dietary Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must possess, as a minimum, High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
• Food handler’s permit preferred according to local regulatory requirements.
• Experience in food prep and service within a skilled nursing or long term care facility strongly preferred.
• Must be able to speak, understand, and write in fluent English.
• Reliable transportation required.
