Job summary

Kenton Nursing & Rehab Center is seeking a dedicated team member to assist with meal preparation and service for adult and geriatric residents. You will support cooks, ensure proper portioning and timely meals, and help maintain high cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen.

Responsibilities include following diet requirements, preparing cold items, and coordinating with dining staff to meet resident preferences and daily census.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors for adult/geriatric residents.
• Follows established departmental procedures in accordance with state regulations and policies.
• Assists in preparation and portioning of meal items according to menu and diet requirements.

• Responsible for pre-preparation of foods for cooks to utilize.
• Assists cooks with meal preparation and service as necessary.
• Oversees pre-preparation of food and ensures meals are properly prepared.
• Prepares cold food as needed.
• Directs and serves individual portions for residents in dining room and tray service.
• Operates kitchen equipment as necessary.
• Monitors perishable foods and ensures proper storage and rotation.
• Performs cleaning assignments in kitchen or serving areas as scheduled or directed.
• Demonstrates ability to adjust shift assignments to meet resident and facility needs.

Job description

Kenton Nursing & Rehab Center -

Responsible for pre-preparation of foods for cooks to utilize. Responsible for appropriate quantities of food prepared to meet standardized recipes and portion control. Assists cooks with meal preparation and service as necessary.

Job Knowledge and Role Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents.
• Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to prepare meals for residents with the following needs: regular and therapeutic diets along with consistency modifications.
• Attends all mandatory inservices by employee's anniversary date.
• Acts appropriately under the direction of the Cook or Dietary Supervisor and acts as an active member of the team.
• Follows established departmental procedures in accordance with state regulations and administrative policies.
• Follows the established standardized recipes and monitors food production and waste.
• Assists in the preparation and portioning of meal items according to menu and diet requirements.
• Reviews menus for special diet needs prior to meal.
• Oversees pre-preparation of food and ensures that meals are properly prepared. Prepares all side dishes according to meal specifications.
• Prepares cold food as needed.
• Prepares food to coincide with meal serving hours so that quality , temperature and appearance of food is preserved.
• Adjusts each meals' production sheet accordingly based on current diet and meal census.
• Accounts for proper portion control to ensure adequate nutritional intake.
• Assists in preparing sufficient quantities of food for residents and staff.
• Directs and serves individual portions for residents in dining room and residents receiving tray service.
• Serves meals in the resident halls and couries food orders to patients.
• Operates all kitchen equipment as necessary.
• Monitors perishable foods and ensures proper storage and rotation.
• Performs cleaning assignments in kitchen or serving areas as scheduled or directed.
• Ensures residents and customer satisfaction according to resident likes and dislikes.
• Demonstrates ability to adjust shift assignments to meet resident and facility needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program when performing work functions.
